CASSINI I

With his outstanding natural talent in jumping, Cassini I was impressive from his very first public appearance. At 6 years old with Bo Kristoffersen, he won four qualifiers for the National Championships, where he became winner in the first final qualification. At 8 yeard old, he placed well at Grand Prix level.

By the age of nine, he had won the Nations Cup with the Danish team, in Helsinki. In 1997, he was still riding with Bo Kristoffersen at the European Championships in Mannheim.

Cassini I was later ridden by Franke Sloothaak. Together, they won the Grand Prix of Arnhem and Modena. They were also a part of the successful German Nations Cup team in Aachen and Modena.

So far, 68 of his sons have been licensed in Germany. At the age of 25, he is one of the most prolific show jumping stallions in the world. Many of his offspring have had successful appearances at major international championships.

At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, two of Cassini’s descendants reached the singles finals - Cavalor Cumano with Jos Lansink and Olympic with Steve Guerdat. Cavalor Cumano, a son of a Landgraf I x Caletto II mare, also won the highest prize in the world jumping in Calgary, and won third place in the 2005 Grand Prix in Aachen, also under Jos Lansink.

In May 2008, the President of the German Federation unveiled a statue of Capitol I at his birthplace.
