GRIBALDI

Gribaldi has always been a popular stallion for breeding. From the beginning, he attracted attention through his extraordinary appearance and success in performance tests.

Gribaldi’s first owner, Otto Langels, bought him as soon as he was born: “I was enthusiastic about him from the first time I saw him in his stall. He was like a picture: black with really long legs and very clear eyes”.

Only two years later at Neumünster, Joop van Uytert had the same reaction: “I was immediately taken with him; he has exceptionally beautiful conformation. His movement was great, off the group and very supple… everyone was impressed by him: his presence, movement, he lacked nothing”. Gribaldi was a horse so mesmerising that van Uytert knew he could not go home without buying him.

Professionally, Gribaldi started competing under Swedish rider Matthias Jansson – a student of Anky van Grunsven. In 1997, at four years old, they came in second place in the Pavo Cup. Gribaldi was later ridden by Edward Gal. They found success everywhere from the Small Tour to Grand Prix and World Cups.

Gribaldi’s offspring have found similar success.
